Good evening! For tonight, an urgent Public Service Announcement.

The CISD and the Discipline Office would like to remind everyone to be mindful of the materials and tools they bring to school for their Science Fair projects. This afternoon, an exposed bottle of petroleum gas was seen and confiscated from one of the lockers in the 3/F of the SHB. There is no question that it posed a health hazard and security risk. Thankfully, the situation was dealt with swiftly and accordingly. The student has explained that the material was precisely for the Science Fair.

In this light, we'd like to remind everyone that you can be held liable for the bringing in of flammable and combustible materials without the proper permits and teacher supervision. Moreover, as you freely work on your projects from this point until the Science Fair, please bear in mind the following:

(a) If you're bringing in electrical equipment for your projects, be mindful of their quality and age for older wires may pose the risk of an electrical short. Please note that in principle, any device that will require use of an electrical socket will need an OBJECT PERMIT FORM.

(b) Sharp cutting tools and implements must be wielded with the utmost caution, especially if you require an instrument of larger size and sharper quality. The DO reserves the right to confiscate instruments that may pose a hazard if used improperly.

(c) The Discipline Office will henceforth require that requests for the bringing in of any flammable or combustible material be put in writing and endorsed by the teacher who has approved your project. We require that you be specific with the material you need, particularly the quantity and type. Furthermore, we request assurance that you will be supervised by your teacher throughout the duration of your use.

(d) Lastly, storing these materials in your lockers or in the bag deposit area is ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED. Coordinate with your teachers with regards to the proper storage and handling of these materials.

I hope everyone understands the urgency of this announcement. We look forward to your strict compliance. We remain excited to see the awesomeness that you'll all be producing in your Science Fair projects, but safety and security will always come first.

Thank you very much! Kindly pass on this announcement to your respective blogs and groups.
